Reader x Teen Titans Chapter 7

Previously…

-As me and Cyborg were discussing this in more detail on the large rounded couch, Raven got up and started to leave the main living area. As she was leaving, she had a smile on her face.
“Maybe we can get along after all.” Was all I heard from her before she left. I just smiled to myself, knowing that I had created some ground of trust between us.-

(A/N Okay, so you may have noticed that I haven’t mentioned anything about Terra. Well this is because a lot of people use this excuse for distrust in their stories and I just saw it as another wall to break through. In other words, she’s not in this story because I’m lazy :-))

Your P.O.V

I was now sat on my own; Cyborg had left about 5 minutes ago to start on my room. I’m considerably surprised that they trust me so much, yet I’m sure I’m being watched by a camera or two. Although, the view from this couch is amazing. Such a big window, though, it would be better described as a wall of glass. This alone time won’t last very long; I can guess someone will be in here soon to ‘talk to me’ or to keep an eye on me. I don’t blame them wanting to keep me in check, in case I don’t betray them or anything. But to be honest, I don’t know anyone in this City to betray them with.

Hearing the sliding doors at the entrance of the living room, I didn’t turn around, but I kept a mental note that there was someone else in the room with me. As I felt a tap upon my shoulder and turned to face the culprit, I was greeted with a slimy, worm, looking thing. Well hasn’t today been full of new experiences.

“Friend, if you are to be living with us from today onward, you must meet my cute larvae of mutant moth, Silkie!” Starfire exclaimed.

I took a minute to process this information. Mutant moth? “Umm, O-Kay, should I be concerned for my health or is he safe? If so, then umm, Hi?” Honestly, I had no idea how to respond, so that’s all I said.

“Oh no! Do not worry, Silkie would not hurt a fly! But be careful as to not leave your items around, Silkie has a big appetite,” Starfire replied, although I was a little creeped out, she was now sat next to me with ‘Silkie’ on her lap. Curiously I reached out and stroked the thing, and I’m pretty sure it started to purr. So. Weird.

Starfire just put on a huge grin, and it got me to thinking, when was the last time that I genuinely smiled? That’s a good question. *Gurgle*

“Oh my, I must be going friend _______, Silkie is hungry and his food supply is in my room,” Starfire apologized but I just waved her off and told her that it’s fine. As she opened the door and left, I was surprised to see Raven standing there. Starfire greeted her as she went past and Raven simply said ‘hey’ and came towards me.

To be honest I was slightly glad that Raven was here, she was one of the only sane people here. I was also hoping that she was going to talk to me, even if it was to know my past. I just leaned back in the sofa and relaxed, haven’t done that in a while either. As I watched Raven, she came in front of me and sat in the air, closing her eyes.

“Hi. Can I ask what you’re doing? And could you stop trying to enter my mind?” I asked, trying to be polite. I figure I should since they’re letting my stay here.

“How’d you know?” Raven asked back. It would seem as if see was under-estimating me.

“Well, how do I describe it? It’s like I can feel pressure on my head, not so much that it hurts, but as if someone was trying to look inside, so I guessed it was just that,” was my reply, not trying to sound over confident or anything.

“Well then I will explain. The conversation we had while ‘getting to know each other’, I noticed that you avoided answering anything about yourself. So I assumed that you were hiding something and tried to find out myself. Though I guess you already figured that out.” Raven explained, still with her eyes closed, hood up.

“Fine. I’ve been considering this. Ask me your questions Raven, I can tell that you can keep a secret, plus I feel as if we have a lot in common.” I smirked. I was being truthful, I rarely lie.

She opened her eyes and looked at me, we stared at each other for what seemed like a couple of minutes. Then she seemed to be deep in thought, I assume she was thinking about a suitable question.

“Why aren’t you with your family?” Was the first question. It’s a good one, all of the team must be curious, though it’s also personal. Then again, I don’t find it personal anymore because I no longer care.

“Where to start? Well, my powers started to appear roughly at the age of 11, 5 years ago. (A/N Change the age if you’d like, I’m going to make it so you’re about 16, but if you wish it to be different go ahead and read it differently). I had no idea what was happening, so when I asked my parents, they freaked to say the least. Then it was as if I wasn’t their daughter anymore. Let’s just say I came from a wealthy family. Image was everything and the reputation of the family was something that had to stay high. I became a stranger and they started to despise me and locked me up in the cellar / basement, afraid that I was a monster and a danger to them. Cliché I know. That was how I accustomed to the dark, and also learnt that loneliness was better than being around people who hated me. I was in that place for about a week before I was picked up by scientists who had bought me from my parents. I dealt with live experimentations for about a month. I then broke out of my temporary prison and ran away. Over the past 5 years I’ve been moving around and barely surviving, perfecting my powers and control. Last year I came to this City and found an abandoned flat / apartment building. The rest I believe you know.” Wow. I hadn’t said this much about myself ever. It felt weird to talk about myself. Raven then looked deep in thought again, processing all of the information I had just given her.

“Sounds hard and inhumane. What did the scientists do exactly?” Raven asked, this her second question. She gave me a look that said I didn’t have to answer if I found it too hard, but I waved it off.

“They conducted experiments on me because obviously they wanted to know if it was my genetics that gave me powers and whether they could take them away or replicate them. The only thing they accomplished was heightening my senses and skills, such as speed and intelligence. You may have already noticed that my senses are considerably better than any other person…” I explained, answering the question, she actually looked as if she was shocked for once, or was that a look of sympathy? I still continued….. “Anyway, if you don’t mind, I think I’d like to stop talking about it now.”

“Very well. Thanks for being truthful about it. I won’t force you to carry on.” Raven stated simply. Well, at least she seems understanding.

“How do you know I’m not lying?” I inquired. I know this probably made me look more guilty but I was curious, and I always fall victim to curiosity.

“I have a feeling that you’re not one to lie. Besides, if we do have things I common, then I don’t really have any choice but to believe you. Although I am from a different planet, my background doesn’t differ too much from yours.” With a smile, Raven was then floating away, back to her room I assume.

No Ones P.O.V

You just sat there, looking back to the view that was in front of you. Having talked about your past, you were now contemplating just how much your life actually sucked. All this time you just brushed it off and told yourself that there was always someone who probably had it worse. However, as you thought about it, your mood and the atmosphere around you just got darker.

“Are you alright _______?” You heard from beside you. You turned towards the sound and saw Robin. You must have been completely in thought; you didn’t even hear him come in.

“Uhh, yeah. Did you get bored watching me on camera?” You smirked, brushing off the previous images of the past.

“I guess you figured it out then, sorry. But I wasn’t watching you or anything; I was originally getting you this…” Robin explained and handed a device to you. It was round and fitted into the palm nicely. It was black and yellow with a white ‘T’ on it…. “It’s a communicator, it allows us to contact each other if we are separated and we can find you if you go missing or something.” He finished.

“Thanks, so I take it you heard the conversation with Raven?” You queried, knowing that he obviously eavesdropped.

Robin moved his other hand that wasn’t holding out the communicator to the back of his head and looked away from your eyes and responded, “Yeah, sorry, but don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone either!”

“Very well, there’s nothing I can do about it now.” You stated while sighing and stood to take the device from Robin, investigating it.

“Welcome to the team _______, glad to have you.” Robin welcomed while extending his hand.

“Thank you…” You smiled, fake of course but you didn’t want to seem ungrateful, and shook his hand, “…but can I not get this in a different colour?” You joked, pointing to the communicator. Robin just laughed along.

Your P.O.V

At this point Cyborg and BB walked through the door.

“Hey, your new room is ready!” Cyborg exclaimed, proud that he finished quickly.

“Wait, you’ve finished my room in roughly an hour? Do you have super speed or something?” I was stunned, how could he have designed and decorated a whole room in such short time?

“I helped!” BB chimed in, as if ignoring the past question.

“No you didn’t, you just stood there asking me to play video games with you! And when it comes to the tower, I get everything done quickly!” Cyborg grinned, seemingly happy with himself.

BB went to the corner of the room and sulked. While Cyborg continued, “Well, are you gonna check it out or what?” Obviously he was excited. I walked over to him and gestured for him to lead the way. I was actually thrilled!
Here it is, number 7! I've a surprise for you tomorrow, but that waits till tomorrow! This chapter was more of a filler than part of the story, but it had to happen at some point. Please comment, and let me know what you think because I really appreciate them and your support. I do not own the Teen Titans.
